Pastor Webb was born 1962 in Pendleton, South Carolina, to the late Marcus and Leila Webb. He was raised in Bethel United Methodist Church. It was in 1990, while attending a revival at Mount Carmel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Anderson, he felt his heart "strangely warmed." Thus, his call heard and received, he began his journey in ministry there under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Paul Brown. Pastor Webb was ordained deacon by the late Bishop Oree Broomfield in 1996 and elder by the late Bishop Charles Helton in 1998.
Pastor Webb's vision for the church can best be summed in the passage from 1 Peter 4:8. "And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins." The Holy Spirit has guided him to teach and demonstrate the message of love and compassion using God's word and by following the example set by Christ Jesus. Pastor Webb believes this vision is universal and helps others understand the purpose and plan that God has in place for their lives. God first loved us and expects us to fervently love others. As the apostle Paul so simply put it. "So these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the best one of these is love."
Pastor Webb was assigned to First Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and the Ninth District on July 22, 2010 by the newly elected Bishop James Walker. His previous ministerial assignments have been exclusively in the Carolina's and the Seventh District under the love and care of Bishop Thomas Lanier Hoyt. Sr. They included New Hope CME in Gilbert, SC (3 years), Broomfield in Gastonia, NC (this assignment included the position as Director of the Helton Royal Plaza, 2 years) and Robert's Tabernacle in Shelby, NC (6 years).
Pastor Webb attended the public schools of Pendleton until matriculating at the University of South Carolina (Columbia), majoring in marketing. He would eventually graduate summa cum laude from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with the Bachelors of Social Work (BSW). Pastor Webb would go on to earn the Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The next step in his educational plan is the Masters of Divinity (M.Div). A long term goal is to eventually earn the PhD in Social Work.
Currently Pastor Webb works for the Office of Children's Services(OCS) as a part-time traveling Protective Services Specialist II. He is also in the process of obtaining his license as a professional social worker in the state of Alaska and his provisional license to practice clinical social work. His area of research since undergraduate has been in teenage pregnancy prevention and intervention. He has extensive experience working in the local schools with teen mothers/fathers, at-risk and gifted students and serving as a mentor/counselor. Pastor Webb has also worked tirelessly as a community activist wherever his pastoral assignments have taken him.
The love of his life, after Jesus, is his darling wife Meldoney, a native of Jacksonville, Florida. They have three children. Johna (Lee) is a teacher in Houston, Texas. Antoine(Aliesha) lives in Missouri, and Marcus lives in Anchorage. They have 4 grandchildren, Gaven (Bookie Boo) Matthews, 6, of Shelby, NC, Antoine Jr(AJ), 3, and A'Maya of Missouri, and Bryce, 2, of Houston, TX.
Pastor and Mrs. Webb have been married for 28 years, and they have never had a fight. That he won!
Pastor Webb describes himself as a low key, simple man that enjoys outdoor activities, reading, golf, the History Channel, professional and college football and his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks.
